What is the difference between Critical Illness Cover and Terminal Illness Cover?Terminal Illness cover pays out if a Doctor diagnoses you with an illness from which you are expected to die within 12 months of diagnosis. This type of cover is usually included free of charge within all good Critical Illness policies - and you cannot by Terminal Illness Insurance on its own But please be aware, Terminal Illness is completely different to Critical Illness Insurance. The essential difference is that Critical Illness pays out immediately if you are diagnosed with a serious illness or condition which is listed within your policy’s list of critical illnesses. For example, blindness, deafness and multiple sclerosis are all on the list. (For further information please read the answer to “What is critical illness insurance?”) Now think about the fact that 35% of men and 46% of women who develop cancer will live for at least 5 years after diagnosis, and that 78% of stroke victims will survive at least 12 months.
